Compared with the August forecast, the expected deficit has decreased by EUR 133 million mainly due to higher estimated tax revenues and lower investment expenditures in defense.<\/li>\n<li><strong>According to the CBR, the 2026 deficit could reach 4.3 % of GDP (EUR 6.1 billion),<\/strong> if the government does not adopt additional measures. <strong>This represents a negative deviation of 0.2 % of GDP (EUR 291 million) from the approved budget amounts,<\/strong> indicating a medium level of risk that the public deficit will exceed the government\u2019s objective.<\/li>\n<li>Compared to the government&#8217;s estimate published in a mid-August report on expected budget outcome, the level of the CBR deficit forecast is lower by 0.1 % of GDP (EUR 176 million).<\/li>\n<li><strong>The most significant negative deviation in the CBR forecast compared to the budget comes from higher expenditures of local governments, amounting to 0.4 % of GDP (EUR 498 million).<\/strong> These expenditures are underestimated in the budget, reflecting this year\u2019s local elections.
